Shaking Up the Spirits World: Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves- McConaughey on Pantalones Tequila, Family, and Living Life to the Fullest
By CEO/Publisher Lincoln Salazar
When Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves come together, sparks fly—and so does their tequila. The Hollywood superstar and his entrepreneurial wife have poured their hearts into Pantalones Tequila, a brand that’s as spirited and vibrant as their own love story. Born from a shared passion for good times and great tequila, Pantalones is more than just a bottle on the shelf; it’s a celebration of life, love, and all the adventures that come with it.
In this exclusive Q&A, Matthew and Camila invite us into their world, where Texas grit meets Brazilian flair, and where family always comes first. They reveal how their roots and experiences have shaped not only their brand but also their approach to life and business. From the thrill of launching a new venture to the challenges of balancing it all, they share the secrets behind their success—and the lessons they’re passing on to their children. With their trademark humor and wisdom, Matthew and Camila show us that living life to the fullest means embracing every opportunity with open arms—and maybe a margarita in hand.
Early Beginnings:
Lincoln: Matthew, looking back at your career, from “Dazed and Confused” to “Dallas Buyers Club,” how has your journey in Hollywood shaped your entrepreneurial spirit today, including ventures like Pantalones Tequila?
Matthew: When my career started, I was just looking for work, a chance to perform, to see if I could pull it off. With success, I’m fortunately in a position to be discerning and choose projects that challenge me, I’ll enjoy, and hopefully feed my character instead of siphon my celebrity. With Pantalones, the venture checked all those boxes. I know it’s a challenge to succeed in such a highly competitive tequila market, but selling and drinking Pantalones is a lot of fun, and I hold “good times” in high regard, so Pantalones still feeds my character.
Career Highlights:
Lincoln:Camila, aside from Pantalones Tequila, what other projects or endeavors are you most proud of, and how do they reflect your passions?
Camila: I have worked on many projects in my life, from handbag designer to baby food company, to hosting TV shows and walking the runway, but I think one of the projects I am most proud of was becoming a NY Times best-selling author with my kids’ book “Just Try One Bite.” All of my projects taught me something that reflects my passion for doing better for myself and inspiring others to do better for themselves and their communities. I have always liked to connect people, women, and various cultures, and find a way that we can all learn from each other. I started a network called Women of Today that is a community of women that share tips, recipes, and advice, and it’s been such a great platform. I learn so much from all the women in the Women of Today community. I am also proud of the work Matthew and I do via our just keep livin Foundation. Gratitude is an important aspect of who we are as a family and also an ongoing theme with the foundation. And now, with Pantalones, I have another project that I am passionate about, but that is also a lot more fun being able to launch the tequila with Matthew.

Collaborative Partnership:
Lincoln: Matthew and Camila, what strengths do each of you bring to your collaborations in ventures like Pantalones Tequila and in your philanthropic initiatives? Could you also share more about the causes closest to your hearts and how you integrate philanthropy into your daily lives?
Matthew: Camila is insatiably curious and loves questioning everything along the way. She also has a natural ability to recognize business opportunities and brand partnerships that are not obvious or apparent. Myself, I am a natural marketer and have an instinct for freely associating multiple ideas into one coherent message. I also have a knack for compounding on momentum. Philanthropically, we invest our primary efforts into our just keep livin Foundation as well as reacting to different natural disasters in communities we have a connection with.
Camila: Matthew is a born salesman and I really enjoy seeing how creative he can be with the Pantalones campaigns. For me, it’s about quality and about exploring all that is possible, like Matthew mentioned above. I would say I leave no stone unturned before making a decision when it comes to the brand.

Lincoln: Matthew, how do your Texas roots and Camila’s Brazilian heritage influence the branding and marketing of Pantalones Tequila?
Matthew: We literally met over margaritas. Tequila was the juice on our lips when we first spoke the language of love on the night we met. We’re both from rural country beginnings, we both like to dance, and we both love good music. Pantalones goes quite well with all of those things.
Camila: Tequila is part of our own love story, and I have really enjoyed so many nights with Matthew over a good cocktail. It really is the best thing we have made with our pants on, and it’s fun to share it with everyone.
