Kelly J. Roberts: Preserving History, Creating Beauty, and Leading with Purpose

In the world of hospitality, historic preservation, and luxury lifestyle, few names carry the weight and vision of Kelly J. Roberts. As Owner and Chairman of the Entrepreneurial Corporate Group (ECG) and the iconic AAA Four Diamond Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, California, Kelly’s influence stretches far beyond the walls of her landmark property. She is a preservationist, philanthropist, entrepreneur, art collector, and tastemaker whose work is defined by loyalty—to her family, her country, and the legacies she protects.
“Remaining loyal—to my family, to our country, and to the legacy we’ve worked so hard to preserve—has been the defining thread of my journey.”
That journey began more than three decades ago when her husband, Duane Roberts—an accomplished entrepreneur, philanthropist, and innovator—purchased the Mission Inn. Known nationally as the creator of the frozen burrito industry and celebrated locally as a transformative leader, Duane had already built a legacy of business success and community impact. When he acquired the Mission Inn, he envisioned not only restoring one of California’s most treasured landmarks, but also revitalizing the heart of Riverside. The Mission Inn has since become a living tapestry of American history. Over the decades, it has hosted presidents, celebrities, and dignitaries from around the world. U.S. presidents from Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan have been connected to the property, with Nixon marrying his wife, Pat, at the Inn’s St. Francis Chapel.
“We saw its soul,” Kelly says. “Since then, I’ve poured my heart into restoring its grandeur while thoughtfully evolving it for today’s discerning traveler. This property is an extension of our home, and I want every guest to feel transported—surrounded by magic, beauty, and meaning.”
Beyond the Historic Walls
Kelly’s leadership extends beyond the hotel’s storied corridors. Through ECG, the Roberts family has built one of the largest privately held apartment portfolios in the nation, reflecting a deep commitment to long‑term investment in communities across America. She is also the Owner and President of KRR Enterprises and the Founder of PALLAS Skincare, a luxury beauty brand born from her award‑winning Kelly’s Spa, recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the Top 10 Hotel Spas in the United States.
Honors in Preservation & Hospitality
The Roberts’ preservation work has earned national recognition. In 2024, Kelly and Duane received the Steward of History and Historic Preservation Award from Historic Hotels of America and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, adding to their previous honor as Hoteliers of the Year.

“Preserving cultural landmarks is not just about saving buildings—it’s about protecting stories, memories, and identities.”
Philanthropy with Purpose
Beyond business, Kelly is a passionate philanthropist whose giving is guided by compassion and purpose. The Kelly J. Roberts Private Foundation, established in 2013, enriches the lives of underprivileged children and animals. She has served on the boards of the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Foundation and supports a wide range of organizations including CHOC, HOAG, Mission Hospital Foundation, Olive Crest, Kickstart Kids, and St. Mary’s School.
In 2023, Kelly and Duane were honored with the City of Hope Humanitarian Award. Furthering her commitment, in April 2025 she joined the City of Hope Orange County President’s Cabinet, offering strategic counsel to one of the nation’s leading cancer research and treatment institutions.
Art, Scholarship & National Service
Her passion for beauty extends to the arts. Kelly curates a museum‑caliber collection spanning classical to contemporary masters, with many pieces thoughtfully displayed throughout the Mission Inn—affirming her belief that the property is a living museum.

Wisdom & What’s Next
“Never give up—especially when it gets difficult. Stay loyal to your mission, hold onto your values, and always lead with grace and strength. We rise by lifting others.”
For Kelly, luxury is intention made tangible: the scent in the air, the softness of a robe, the sparkle of a chandelier, and the kindness of a welcome. Looking ahead, she hints at another chapter—an exquisite new property in Palm Beach—“another love letter to design, history, and the pursuit of beauty.”
